Melbourne – 17 April 2012 – NEC Australia today announced that it has signed a multi-million dollar three-year network services contract extension with Toyota Australia, to support the vehicle maker’s critical information technology operations and providing the platform to enable connectivity to its cloud solution for Toyota Dealerships across Australia.
Since 2008, Toyota Australia partnered with NEC Australia to complete an ambitious data network transformation, to provide Toyota’s Australian customers a single point of contact across its nationwide dealer network.
As part of this contract, NEC provides data carriage, customer premises equipment, service monitoring and support to more than 180 Toyota dealer sites across Australia. The service is supported by NEC Australia’s Nextep network, providing the manufacturer with a robust and reliable private cloud solution.
“NEC Australia’s development of our Dealer Access Network has allowed Toyota to complete our cloud computing solution across a private network,” said James Scott, Divisional Manager Information Systems Division, Toyota Australia. “Reliable and simple communications is critical to the success of our dealerships’ service levels, which is why we transformed our data network.”
“The Australian car industry is intensely competitive and has faced a challenging market, so the capacity and success of Toyota’s dealership network is critical to deliver better service than our competitors and maintaining Toyota’s leading position in Australia,” says James Scott.
This contract extension also provides an upgrade to the Dealers IP network to reduce Toyota’s voice and data network costs in the long term, improves network reliability and optimises system performance, without additional upfront capital costs.
Toyota Australia chose to renew the existing contract covering data carriage, data network equipment, service monitoring and support because of NEC Australia’s consistent delivery of a high-availability network and the responsiveness of its multi-vendor service and maintenance teams, which are critical to the high levels of service Toyota customers have come to expect.
NEC Australia was also able to offer Toyota Australia attractive terms and competitive pricing under the new arrangement, extending the two companies’ strong relationship and common use of the latest technology to improve customer outcomes.
“NEC is committed to its vision to be Australia’s leading multi-vendor support and communications systems integrator by 2014,” said Alan Hyde, Managing Director at NEC Australia.
“NEC has a 20-year working relationship with Toyota delivering full voice and data infrastructure solutions as a managed service. We are honoured to deliver one of the world’s iconic car brands with a national dealer network of world-class technology infrastructure standards that will drive down costs and help its dealers deliver fantastic results.”
